16 weeks

Officially 16 weeks this week, my tummy and ass are growing nicely.  The Dr is all happiness with how things are going and hasn't really done anything special since 12/13 weeks. I am still seeing the Dr every 2 weeks for weight and blood pressure, unfortunately no scans have been done so still in the dark with regards to jelly beans gender.   This last visit, Dr used the doppler to hear the heart beat, he found it in a matter of seconds (in comparision to previous visits), it was fast, strong and according to the Dr healthy! Heart rate of 148bpm.

Now with regards to teh gender, I've been doing some research and gender testing and have concluded on the following:

I have a low belly..its a boy
Jelly bean's heart beat greater than 140bpm..its a girl
My facial skin is clear for the first time in a long time..its a boy
Ili is the same size, no weight gain..its a girl
No sugar craving, salt though..its a boy
Face has gone round and fuller..its a girl
My klutz factor has increased...its a boy
Had morning sickness..it a girl
My belly has gotten hairy..urgh! ...its a boy
Carrying the weight in your hips and rear ...its a girl
Having headaches ..its a boy
Moodier than usual during pregnancy...its a girl

Next..the chinese gender predictor: Using your lunar age and date of conception, the gender can be “guessed” with 50% accuracy!
Based on this very accurate prediction tool...it's a ...it's a boy!

Next ..the Drano test: all you need is a sample of urine and some dodgy chemical follow the directions and voila, your gender prediction tool is born.  But be warned " if you decide to do this test, there could be some pretty harsh fumes produced - not to mention the possibility of an explosion!" yeah I didn't do it, Im not that desperate to find out lol

Next: add your age at the time of conception and the number for the month you conceived and the sum is even its a boy, odd its a girl ...my result its a boy!

Next the ring test:  by hanging my wedding ring over my belly we can quite accurately predict jelly beans gender by analysing the way it swings.  If it swings left to right its a boy and if it moves in a circle its a girl.
Based on this tool ...its a..its a ...we have no idea, the test was inconclusive, it did not move.

So all in all their is a 50% change of it being a boy! Yip a boy!  But there is still a 50% chance of a girl! So I guess we'll have to see which myth/tool is more 50% accurate than the next lol

On the road again...

This last weekend, we decided to take a drive, a long drive, and see where we land up..you know, go and see what we haven't seen before.  Where did we go?  We caught the highway and drove till we could not drive anymore, and landed literally at the tip of a pinnacle in a place called Newport!  A cute little place, built along the Mariner, cobble paved streets filled with restaurants and unique shops.

One of the streets we walked along

My boys
We stopped for lunch, this a difficult task trying to figure out wich restaurant you want to eat at.  We finally settled down to a meal of cod fillets and lobster roll.  It was good!

Local fresh fish market

Watching the lobsters... Jaime got to touch one, which made his day!

Fresh crab anyone???

One of the landings with a view of the gorgeous boats.  You can go on harbour tours on the boats if you like, we thought we'd do it next time ;-)

The chocolate ice cream high

Just chilling in the shade

Jaime in front of the local statue

2 feet diving into a wave

and we walked some more...

Busted..

Want to know what Jaime is doing at 6am every morning....

Shifting furniture around and helping himself to snacks!

Busted

What????

For the longest time I used to pride myself in telling people "Jaime doesn't really like chocolate and sweets"  and he truly didn't, he used to fight and scream for it, but the minute he had it in his grubby paws he would just hold it till it melted into goo, then he would scream and cry that his hands were sticky.

Now he wakes up early, sneaks downstairs and ransacks the kitchen cabinets for chocolate and treats! Oi how things are a changing!

My coffee fix

My life has changed significantly over the past 15 weeks, my eating habits, my exercise routine, my moods, my clothes oh and I can go on... but the biggest and hardest change has been my coffee fix.  I don't ever recall a day that I have not had at least 2 coffees/cappuccinos, it was my addiction!  Some people eat chocolate, others drink, smoke, I drank coffee...strong coffee, and I LOVED it!

Now I just smell it and crave it!
So I did a bit of research on the topic, since I have to be able to justify everything I do.  Caffeine is not only found in coffee but also in tea, soda, chocolate, and even some over-the-counter medications that relieve headaches.  You should limit your caffeine levels to 200mg a day while pregnant.  Just to put this into perspective
Espresso:  40-75mg
Black Tea: 14-61mg
Coke classic:   30-35mg
Mountain Dew: 46-55mg
Hersey's kiss:  1mg

Having all this information on hand I think if I am really good during the week, ie no coffee, no coke/similar, limited chocolate I think 1 cappuccino on the weekend is ok ...right?  I know nothing is better but I feel like I'm on crack, the more I resist, the more I want it! So if I know I'll get my one cup once a week it just helps calm the beast.

I presented this to Ili this morning, even though he was not quite bought he made me one.  And whether intentionally or not he made it with love...

My very own jungle gym

We were luck enough to pick up an old swing set for Jaime which Ili has taken on the project to revamp and redesign a jungle gym for Mr Jaime.

The new design includes swings, a rock wall, a slide, a spinning wheel, a sand pit, monkey bars, I think a balance beam...it sounds awesome and I'm sure Jaime is going to spend many a day on it.

The boys hard at work
Up and down Jaime moves his tools and "helps" dad

My very own jungle gym! Ta daa....
So this is how I help Dad...

I hammer here...

I hammer there...

The concentration is intense!

No real projection on when the gym will be ready but at least the boys are having fun building it together!

Fathers Day:  June 17 2012

We were luck to host Fathers day lunch at our place this year, and luck for us the sun came out, allowing us to enjoy a brilliant braai, lunch on the patio/deck and a short but sweet swim in the pool!
