Sundays...

Generally Sundays are catch up days.  Especially this week, as this week was a crazy busy week. With Ili being away and him now at work I have a lot of catching up to do.  Definitely need 2 people to run this ship.  I'd honestly go looney if it was just up to me.  Thanks God for Ili!

After an early start, 5 loads of laundry, 3 of which are dried folded and packed away, 1 of which was soaked, bleached and washed, the other 2 are hanging for another days folding, Mateo's meals for the week broccoli and peas, peaches and pears,  weeding the veggie patch, 2 loads of dishwashing in machine and hand washing, all packed away lunch and dinner and kitchen clean.

It as not all hard work today still got a swim in, some painting, aircraft army pretend play and some one on one time with each little boy.

The veggie patch.  Yes when Ili does something he really does it.

How gorgeous does the pool look now!

Wish I had this much energy every Sunday... actually everyday!
Feels good.
Loving having my family together again!

Peas, sweet peas

Onward on the food journey - today we introduce peas

Jury is still out...

and it's a definite NO.
He is not a fan of the texture. Or maybe he thought it really was Halloween and he was getting mushed up candy...

Much prefers chewing on a bottle with water.

Crawling backwards

We are rocking!
Up and down, forward and backward,
We move on our knees backward,
and spin, spin, spin 360 degrees on our belly,
the knees are still not preferred, he would rather crawl on his toes and hands, or just roll, roll roll till he gets where he needs to get to.

Now we really need to baby proof our house!  He has all ready pulled the psp out, and has started pulling at the cabinet doors.

Soon we will have a baby on the move!

Daddy is home!

The moment the sun was up Friday morning Jaime was down stairs running around looking for Dad, I did tell him 1 more sleep.  I guess I should have been more specific.

Anyway after a long day, karate and a movie daddy finally arrived home.
Jaime was literally flipping to see him ;-)

Along with Dad came I missed you prezzies, which I got to do with him on Saturday!

Poor Mateo just sat around staring at us wondering what all the excitement is about

And there it is - a model Tom cat

Battling through the emotions

Today leaving home could not have been worse, Jaime was kicking and screaming not letting me leave, all while suctioned to my leg.  He has done really well these past few weeks and has been really happy to stay home and play while we go to work.  If there is a little fight its a mere kiss and hug and he gets over it.  This morning on the other hand was very different, he was genuinely upset.  After I left he ran up to his room and lay in bed and cried ;-(

My poor boy, with Ili has been away for 4 days now, and with me at training in Boston yesterday for literally the day (out at 6:30 and back home at 7), Jaime is breaking down.

I need to figure out how to teach him to deal with his emotions and voice what he is feeling without the melt down.  I know its all part of growing up, and I know we cant just make everything better without the lesson but its just so hard to watch.

So I decided to leave work early and spend some quality time with my boy.  Nothing like ice cream to make it all better (ironic know).  We did hit the library on the way though.

Baby Mateo even got to taste some... no need to tell you cause you can see it on his face, but he loved it!

We then had some hero time with his cousins:

And after a relaxing afternoon all happiness has been restored ...*yay*
Bonus for the day: one more sleep till daddy gets home

Inseparable

Pics taken on different days but the story is the same... my boys are just inseparable.

Some mornings they sleep in:

Other mornings, while I get ready for work, they giggle insanely

They start off in their own beds, some time during the night they both migrate to our bed, and eventually by sunrise they take over the bed, but still manage to gravitate toward/on top of each other.

Dia de Portugal

Courtesy of Wikipedia "Although officially observed only in Portugal, Portuguese citizens and emigrants throughout the world celebrate this holiday. The date commemorates the death of national literary icon Luís de Camões on 10 June 1580."

We head North to Somerville, a town outside of Boston, another big Portuguese community.  We met up with our Portuguese friends, devoured a Portuguese lunch and after enjoyed a Portuguese parade.

yeah .... its a Portuguese parade

There was even a Portuguese Elvis

Even a Portuguese Duckie tour

How Jaime enjoyed the parade, picking up sweets that the "floats" throw out for the kids.  The sweets also included broas de mel.. BONUS!

How Mateo enjoyed the parade - he slept through it lol
After the parade we followed the crowd down the road to the Catholic church to enjoy the festa.  Walking down the street felt like home, everyone knew everyone, except us lol we just get in the way of the double kiss hello and the "Ai meu Deus, nao me digas, howa are youa".

Our Portuguese friends

Malacadas and Sumol.  Normally Im not a Malacada fan, but these were very fresh and delicious!

The festa after included some rancho's and some singer we did not recognize.  Not sure how she gets away with the outfit but hey whatever floats her boat right!

Us - loving the Portuguese atmosphere
It was not the "New Bedford biggest festa in the world" but we left the festa on a Portuguese high and drove to Logan airport to say bye to Ili who is going to Minnesota for the week.  Poor guy was stuck at the airport for hours due to delays.  BUT he had malacada and Sumol in his gut so he survived ;-)
