The week we'd love to forget!

Well I've been a little out of action last week, man what a week! All started Monday morning with a call from Ili at round 10am letting me know that the Police had paid them a visit this morning as they had heard a tip off that a gang was going to "hit" the shop Monday morning. Thank fully nothing happened Monday morning, however the buggers came back Monday evening 15minutes before closing time! Thank God and Ili's guardian angel, Ili was and still is safe and sound! Like Ili says ..."you cannot let these things get you down...you wont get up and go to work..." mmm Im not sure if I'd have the same attitude after his episode but anyway I admire his strength!

Tuesday, my Jaime, was overcome by the big Germ, shame the poor little guy could not retain food or liquid from about 3pm onwards! Us acting like true first time parents not knowing what to do rushed him off to casualty. He was finally admitted at 11pm due to dehydration and unknown cause of vomiting.

As the cause was unknown we got a private room, this was awesome I have to admit! But the 'being' in hospital is not fun as many of you know...I think the most frustrating thing is the constant flow of people that come into the room. We had a private room as we were admitted with vomiting and unsure of the cause. For example the noisy cleaners, caregivers nurses geez its a lot of people! Most of the caregivers and nurses were really sympathetic and left Jaime alone when he was sleeping or grumpy but geez those cleaners barging in singing banging shouting grrr ahhh the joys of hospital ...but the best is the 5:10am "GOOD MORNING" like the expectation that every baby on the planet wakes up at 5 in the morning LOL ha ha ha ha

Wednesday Jaime pretty much felt rotten, he slept most of the day, would't let me go and cried alot. Thursday he felt alot better! Shame look my poor Jaime with his big food swatting bandaged drip hand....

Thursday arvie we managed a smile...

Eventually he was so well he was unpacking the cupboards, playing "peek-a-boo' with the door and just causing a riot in our little private gastro room!
We were discharged Friday morning after a lengthy discussion with the Paed re his weight, reflux, constant vomiting, food issues, feeding issues. Basically she said she was't worried about his weight he did't look "wasted", she was satisfied about the fact that he has 7* his birth weight in 1 year. Regarding the reflux she did't think it was necessary to do extensive testing, it would only result in invasive procedures which might not be that accurate and may be cause more stress than good. His food and feed issues we need to just RELAX and continue to pursue and challenge his gag reflex continuously and eventually he'll get over it! All in all she really made me feel at easy!
During the hospital visit Jaime learnt how to shake his head to say NO, this was fasinating to me as it only happened each and every time I asked him if he wanted food! Check out the video below...
Well that is what I was trying to get him to do but oh no Mr Jaime has a mind of his own! Its funny how Mom gets pregnant, Mom get fat, Mom sacrifices her career, Mom balaces life, work, baby, home, husband, Mom cooks, Mom cleans, Mom stays at the hospital sleeps in a small bed comforts the bugger and all he can say is DA DA!!!! "HUMPH"
Sunday was spent at home (oh surprise so was Saturday and Friday LOL) but this time we had visitors yip all the cousins came to visit! Jaime was in his element screaming and talking running around as if nothing was wrong..good for him I think!
Here is a bit of an action shot, I do apologise for the quality! It is Rafael in the walking ring and Jaime at the back pushing screaming!

Long hard week...but it ended well! Thank GOD!

So much for the safety gate...

k granted we forgot to "lock" the gate but still the bugger opened the spring loaded door and managed to get through! We are dealing with mastermind here!

Dr Kelly and our WONDERFUL GLORIOUS news

On Friday Jaime and I paid a visit to Dr Kelly's rooms (the plastic surgeon). Now when I tell you I was in anguish about this appointment, it meant I was completely utterly in a stress! Dr Kelly did the usual external examination with his ums and ahs, did a measurement of the circumference and then concluded:

The head growth is on par, his shape, especially at the back is a little out but ok, the cut looks brilliant, the bumps on the side of his head are a result of the wire from first op but is not causing any damage and... in conclusion.... it will not be necessary to have a second operation. However to make sure we need to take a skull xray to confirm definitely, if there is any untoward he will contact me and we can discuss what next.

Did you read that ...NO NEED FOR A SECOND OP YYYIIPPEEE YEEEAAAAHH YEAAAHH!!!!!

The xray was a bit traumatic for both Jaime and I. The radiologist was a bit ruff, screaming at us cause Jaime was moving...now the woman was clamping his head down clamping his mouth shut, all while Jaime was screaming his lungs out, it was so hard to hold his hands and legs still while watching the tears stream down his face. I mean he is a baby he doesnt understand that he needs to be still. Eventually the lady stormed out the lab door flying (really dramatic) to call another lady to hold his legs - obviously I was not doing a good job. Anyway the xray was done, clear enough to view and both Jaime and I were relieved to leave the lab.

To date Dr Kelly has not called -No news is....yes yes Good news!!!

My monster...

Need I say more..?

Jelly..say what?

As part of the "Jaime desensitising" project we made some jelly. The jelly was set with some of his toys, with the aim of him digging his fingers in the jelly to get the toys out.

Well the experiment went as follows:
It was warm out and sunny so we did the experiment in the garden,
The jelly bowl was presented to Jaime,
He seemed quite eager especially after he noticed the toys... note the fingers....

However when he realised the substance that the toys were in he was't as eager...actually he was quite peeved that his toys were stuck in this sticky orange stuff...

After a little encouragement, a little help from mom, his toys were finally released from the jelly grip. After much more encouragement Jaime eventually managed a lick...

Once he realised the jelly was't the skin eating, plemn from a gargoyle he relaxed and had some fun!

mmm the jelly is actually quite nice...

MY AVOZINHA IS HOME

My Avozinha is home! She is healing really well from the hip op, however she is finding it hard to get used to not being as independent as before. She is feeling really tired and down. For those of you that know my Avozinha give her a call, tell her to get out of bed, eat her meals, and enjoy life again. She has lots of great grandchildren that would love to hear stories and experiences of 82 years of life! So if you can, her number is +2711 979 4844. If you cant well throw up a prayer for her and her family so we can be there during this challenging time.

Peek-a-boo

Mr Jaime has become such a comic! The Jardim house is so full of smiles and laughter...Jaime has really brought happiness into our lives. And boy does he know he is funny, it is completely adorable the way he laughs at his own jokes..too cute!

You know alot has happened over the last few weeks, long story, but they are the sort of happenings that make you assess your life, make you appreciate your loved ones and assess what they mean to you. I am completely in love with my family and am so thankful for the way my life has turned out... cliche I know but there is nothing I would change about my life right now!

Tiago's concert

Wednesday evening Hilario and I had our first night out together. The evening was spent at Ili's old School CBC...why the school? well our Godchild Tiago's concert of course. Our big boy is in his first year at CBC, and thoroughly enjoying it. Tiago has become a major joller, he shakes those hips and wiggles his bum...all in rhythm... its so cool!

Singing "Ek will huis to gaan, na mama to...and something about a bokkie".... hence the horns ;-) (direct translation I want to go home to mom.... something about young lady...) Its a big hit in SA Afrikaans community, actually its a big hit in the English bars and parties too..after a couple of drinks of course ;-)
