Jaime Cranio follow up - before and after and after

This last February was Jaime's Cranio operation 2 year anniversary.  I'm a bit late with this post ...clearly.  Anyway here some pics of before and after and after that.  You can see Jaime's head has really taken shape and looking good.

Jaime's right caronal suture was closed causing his right side of the skull to stop growing.  You can see in the pre-op pic vs the post op his right eye orbit changed significantly.  The Dr moved his forehead forward by 1.5cm to equalise.

Here you can see the preop forhead difference.  2 years later he has an almost perfect head shape.

Winter has arrived

Winter has arrived, today is the first day of true chill!  The tempreture is forecasted at 3 degrees (however according to weather bug it feels like -2) Eish!

Our winter wardrobe is a little non existent, so colours are a bit off - but hey at least the monkey was warm!

RIP my Maggie

Maggie - our female basset, entered our lives in February 2006.  Initially she joined our family to be a mate for Fred, but she became one of us.  Even when Jaime was born, Fred and Maggie showed nothing but love for their new master.

On Jaime's birthday this year we discovered our little Maggie was pregnant.  She had been rather quiet the last few days but we all thought it was the cold setting in.  Needless to say a week later the 4 pups were born.  This is her 3rd litter.  However this litter we dont know who teh father is.

Anyway Thursday morning Maggie passed.  The vet said it was milk fever and pure exhaustion.  My poor puppy!

Writing practice

About 2 weeks ago I did an OT assessment with Jaime.  The results show that Jaime def has low muscle tone.  She said that it is not a problem now but later on and at school it will catch up and affect his studies.  One of the biggest risks of low muscle tone is writing. Their hand muscles and core muscles get very tired very quickly so when writing exams or just basic table work they get tired quickly and may not finish tests/exams.  This will result in them knowing 90% of the work but only writting 50 - 60% of the exams.

As part of our house activities we've been practicing writing,colouring, and just general hand / pen co-ordination.

This year Jaime was extremely luck he basically had 3 parties for turning 3! One a week early with his cuzzies, one at school and one big party at home with friends and family.

At Jaime"s birthday party (last week) someone asked us "hey is Maggie pregnant?", our response " mmm heck no way... mmm hang on a minute maybe she is!"  Felt her stomach and yes Maggie was pregnant! 

The big question was Who is the dad????

We arrived home last night to find maggie skinny - yip she had her puppies!   We finally found them (after an half hour of us running around the property) under a bush, under a tree on the opposite end of the garden. 

Surprisingly she let me touch them, pick them up and bring them into the court yard.

Jaime turns 3: 7 May 2011

7 May 2011 - Jaime turns 3!

Jaime is at teh age now where he knows what it is to have a party, to be centre of attention and to enjoy it!  He had his school party yesterday so practice done ready for the real deal today!

15 minutes before we expected guests to arrive it started to rain.  Lucky for us we had stickers, colours and white party boxes so as the kids entertainment/activity they got to decorate their party box! The kids loved it!
