We did it again... we bought a house

Its official, our big HUGE exciting news: we are officially residents of Rochester Massachusetts USA, we bought a house, an huge house, with lots of rooms and lots of yard.

We sealed the deal today.  Boy talk about paperwork, it took an hour and half to sign all the paper work, register the transfer, hand over the keys, the official hand shake and well wishes.  We were exhausted but yet super excited!!!!  We finally have a sanctuary we can call home!

Ili really happy, holding the bag of keys
(one of the many things the seller handed over)

Me ...just me

Jaime's face after we told him we going to the new house... he then screamed "YAY I'm so excited I love the new house"

Ok lets get to the good stuff:

Drum roll... dum dum di dum...

Our home

including the garage and the driveway... Ili and Jaime look like they own the place???

One of the many bird feeders the seller left for us, "to look after his birds"
The pool is in the back ground, its heated ooohhh I am really looking forward to that!

A look from the very back of the yard.
Ili in front of his new barn, yes a barn, he is very proud of it.  It used to house horses in its day... the barn will not be reliving those days!

A man who just bought a house, a barn and a crap load of lawn that he has to mow
My boys in the back yard

Jaime near the vinha (vinyard), or soon to be vinha... every Portuguese house needs a vinha!

I found one: a Golf hole and flag pole.
The seller had a golf course all set out including holes, flags and he left his golf sticks for Ili to mess around with

The pool area and outside shower on the right

A pics from last summer... what we have to look forward too
And so we break bread

Sorry pizza.  Our first meal in our home.  Truly American

What the sellers left for us:

Manuals galore!  Everything that had a manual in this house is in this stack and crate.  Seriously!  Including written instructions for certain items.

They even left a reference book of local birds and animals so we can refer to it when they visit our garden.  Yes when they visit our garden!  Apparently the deer visit the garden on most mornings and evenings.  They thoughtfully warned us that we should not approach them as they kick really hard...ja like I'm gonna go pet the wild beast! LOL

A gift from our Agent ... this will be our 5th real estate transaction and I have to say this is the first time we have ever received anything from the agent.  Its nice receiving gifts, we love it!

So needless to say we are very happy, very excited and cant wait to start unpacking our stuff and packing them neatly in their designated draws.

Now our stuff arrived in the container in the beginning of April.  With lots of stress, we managed to get the container to the new house.  The Sellers kindly let us unpack the container into the attic above the garage.  This was extremely kind of them as we had not signed any closing papers yet, we had signed and committed but without the formal closing there is no deal.  So I guess both them and us took the risk, work out good tho.  Ili managed to organise the movers to help offload the container.  Some of our furniture is damaged but its nice to have our stuff.  We'll be there on Friday to start unpacking so will keep you posted.

Do I need to say it ....Now there is absolutely no excuse for our familia and friends to come and visit!

Messing about on the weekend

Some more quality time

Some digging on the beach with his new bucket and digger (shovel)

Last session of Mix Sports
(Jaime is wearing green climbing over the Green M and Blue roller on the other side)
In 2 weeks we start swimming, need to get him back into the water and water aware.  I'm he has forgotten his swimming skills over the past 6 months of winter...will keep you posted

Having a snack at the local Zoo

Fully kitted out for a quick drive in the park

Its the park around the zoo, huge playground and walkways for kids to ride their bikes.  Pretty cool

Messing around with Dad at home

The boy.... man I love this kid!

Surprise Post

Thanks Avo for my card.....

Jaime really excited to see his name on the envelope

Concentrating really hard

FYI he is wearing quecas (underwear)

Hike ...Hike

This weeks session at the Y...American Football.  The difference this week is we were late (not your fault at all Avo and your Skype goodbyes ...just teasing) so we joined the second class.  A much smaller class.  This Jaime loved as you'll see

Training Tip #1:  Kicking technique

Live action:

Training Tip #2:  The all important catch

Training Tip #3: The chase

The aim of the game is to run and pull a strip from her belt.  This symbolises the "dead ball".  The team then moves to the nearest yard line and starts again. You have 4 tries to get to the end zone and score. Does it sound like I know whats going on...????

Being a small class and being a fast kid Jaime loved this game.  I think they did the exercise 5 times and 4 of those times he caught the strip first.  My competitive child.

Training Tip #4:  The footballers dive

You guessed it ... the 5th try.  The coach had to try run in all different directions to give the other boys a chance.  When this happened, Mr Jaime did the dive, the "its a foal coach!!" kinda dive.

With a quick "you doing a great job" and kiss from mom, tears were dried up and all happiness again.  Glad this sulky action did not last long.

I must admit its so much fun watching my Jaime in action.  I can handle it easier this way then the crying.  Mental note:  its something we need to work on and prepare for so its not so hard to deal with.

Hike ... hike...

The Holy Weekend

The Holy week has arrived, all too quickly, its not like I did not have any warning but it seriously felt like it just pounced on us.  I think the biggest reason is cause its not a public holiday everything is closed kinda weekend like in SA (oh do I miss that!).  Here everyone works, its just a normal Friday and well weekend.

As you know I'm in tax season, this means absolutely no leave is to be taken, and with the deadline next Friday the chances of time off is slim.  But after a week of mind negotiations I finally got the balls on Friday morning and requested the afternoon off.  My boss' reply  "well I ain't getting between you and God so yes we'll work something out".  Shoo was't gonna play that card but since he brought it up I want gonna argue either.

As per usual I push things to the very last minute, I leave work 2:40, pick up Jaime and rush off to church in Mattapoisett.  After about 10 minutes of driving around trying to find the church I hear Jaime shout "hey Mom there's the church" .... ok 3pm we good to go... well apparently I was the first and only one there. Isn't Good Friday 3pm service like an international standard?  Everyone knows that its like a guaranteed thing, no need asking questions on time, its 3pm and that's that.  Well things are obviously different here.  Needless to say I left to go two towns over to reach their 3pm service.

Just thinking of SA (again), we'd arrive half hour early just to get a seat or standing position inside the church.  Off the top of my head, I don't think in the past 3 years we have actually spent Good Friday inside the church, always outside, just due to us being late and the church being so packed.  Now here the church was full but not Sunday Mass full, just full.  I managed to find a seat for Jaime and myself, this I was relieved and grateful for.  I really did not want to spend two hours standing and calming Jaime down.

The service was the same as we know it and Jaime behaved well throughout the hour and half service.    Now some quality time with Jaime.  Ili's shift only ends at 10pm so its just me and my boy for dinner and silly games.

All in all a Good Friday it was.
