Halloween at school

So Mr Jaime had his first dress up, Thursday morning was Jaime's first Halloween celebration - at school.  For the past week Jaime has been talking about his Monkey costume.  So first thing we do is try it on, see if it fits.  All excited the costume goes on...out comes the camera and this is what we get...

So we tried again Thursday morning.... this time in his Rex costume..

Much better!  He did't actually wear it to school, so it just hung on the hook.  But according to his feedback Ms Ashley helped him put it on.  So I think he did flash it off sometime during the day.

We'll see how it all goes down on Monday night...keep you posted!

Our New home

Yip that's right Ili, Jaime and myself are officially tenants! Its a winter rental ie only available in the winter as its the owners summer house. Its fully furnished which helps us defer our settling in expense.

It a gorgeous little 2 bedroom 1 bathroom cape cod style house. Best of all its a 5 minute walk to a private beach! OK its gonna be real cold soon so not sure how much of the beach we really going to enjoy but its great for the walk - fresh air, the sounds and smells all a relaxants!

To many days in our new home, every day better and better!

Another tick on the checklist

Yip believe it, we are are the proud owners of our very first American left hand drive automatic vehicle. Now you know what this means??? Correct again, Ili and I are registered legal Massachusetts drivers. This marks the end of our ode to be 18 years old. Finally, i was stressing myself out trying to remember left from right!

On Monday, we decided to do a drivers lesson with a trained instructor. Now the schools name was Martin driving school, and being from New Bedford we should have guessed the guy was Portuguese. Martin has been in the country 40years and still speaks like he just stepped off the boat. Wonder if we'll be the same in 40 years time????? Im not going to talk about the lesson as it was pretty boring but I will mention the fact that it was pretty interesting conversation from the Porto and his car had so much torque I think I gave the guy whiplash every time I pulled off.

Thursday the drivers exam. 2hours off work. Sweet cause I need to practice!

4pm Ili, peter( our sponsor, all learners are required to have one for the exam) and the examiner are off. Issues with vehicle as its a rental, lucky Peter's was around, with no registered fines (note trap detector sneakily removed prior to the exam) and they off. Lucky for us we drove around New Bedford so Peters car was't given the opportunity to shake while in transit ... yes we all panicked with the thought lol. Ili passed first time.

He returned to the DMV with parting advice, all of which consumed my mind so much that came crunch time I still got it wrong lol yes it was a left right issue! Have to say I think it was much easier than expected or mentally experienced. It was mere street driving, parallel parking, and backing up. None of the course tests we did in SA and no gears!!!

But who cares, I passed, got the license and now a brand new car, humph left right what's the difference right? ;-)

To our new wheels may it give us many miles, and miles and miles of memories!

And the medical drama continues....

This time a bad reaction to the steroids given to help reduce the rash effects of the poison ivy. Ili 's back, arms, trunk and legs are now covered by a red bumpy itch rash. This time round the Dr said she could do nothing to help, he just needs to ride this one out.

We are now almost a week down and its finally clearing! Thank God cause Ili was literally a dog with fleas scratching every 2 minutes and not forgetting the wall corner back scratch at 3 in the morning!

Update on medical insurance....still none. Another thank God, CAMAF and discovery cover us still.

First day at American school

Published with Blogger-droid v1.7.4

First day at school for Mr Jaime

Today was Jaime's first day at his new American school. He has been wanting to go for a while but we've just battled to get organized and in a routine. But today finally came for Jaime and as you can see from his face he is very excited. School:Lighthouse Center Where:Mattapoisett (5min from Peter and work) Teacher: Miss Ashley The drop off went pretty seamless. He did however, do the "mommy don't go stay" but the effort level was say 2/10 so I reckon it was a courtesy sympathy gesture for my sake. My boy loves me what can I say tee Hee Ili picked up a very tired little boy at 12 with a good report back from the teacher. He is on par with the other children and his she with regards to colors, shapes and numbers. He enjoyed the day and seems to have settled in. Yay for the Jardim family! Another tick in the "settle in checklist" done *yay *yay* yay*

Medical issues

Remember a few weeks back I told you Ili and Peter were in the garden doing some manual labour, well both boys got poison ivy infections. They both got hit really badly! Peter, first ( think its the second time ie def not the first) started with red itchy sores then inflamed legs oozing pussy liquid... sounds delightful right! Then Ili, same reaction.

Yip and on my last post I told you we doing have insurance uhhh.ummm yes that's how it went. So Ili managed to last for about a week with oozing scratchy legs but when the inflammation started we had to take him to a Dr. Thank God for prepay walk on clinics, dose of steroids, and camomile lotion!

2 days on steroids and the inflammation is gone, the oozing is gone but the scratching and red skin seems to want to linger a little longer.

Some pics...
