Day out with Thomas

I think I first promised Jaime that we'd go on a train ride with Thomas in April this year.  Since then we have missed him twice and every so often I get the third degree.  So this time when Thomas came to town, I definitely made a date of it and we went!

It was fun!

Jaime all excited to see and hear Thomas in the distance

Our train ticket was only had 2 so we had about 2 hours to walk around the park, play with the Thomas toys, meet some characters and go on some rides...

Jaime's favourite ride.. the red airplane

Enjoying the thrill

Pulling at the lever so the train would go up and down.  It was pretty cool!

Maybe next year we'll see his face tee hee

I joined Jaime on a couple of the rides, but the "round and round" was making me so nauseous that taking a pic was challenging!

Today he just loved the posing for pics
We then shared lunch together, some nutritious, fatty fried hamburger and pizza (this appeared to be the healthiest thing on the menu and the only things that weren't deep fried!).  After half hour of waiting, we finally sat down under a tree to enjoy lunch,  Literally 5 min later the Autumn winds swooped in, picked up the paper plates and "doof" went the pizza aaaahhhhhhhh!!!!! luck I had snacks in my bag so keep the hunger pains at bay.

Next up...Thomas

Toot toot

The station clock says 2 minutes to departure

The attempts for the perfect Mom and Son picture...guess our quality time was perfect enough ;-)

Enjoying the views

A real conductor checking tickets and punching holes "just like the conductor on dinosaur train mom"

Thomas close up

The Edaville Park

We met Sir Topham Hatt...lets ignore the fact that the person in the costume could not stand up straight and the jacket and arm kept detaching..lucky the kids didn't notice

Then back at home...

All train inspired.  Came home a built a brand new track on the floor

Having a blast with his new Wilson (the red train in his hand)
Dad came home and was inspired too with Jaime's refreshing passion for trains.  We now have a new project on the go!

Night after night

And still the habit continues, night after night

This time he brought his pillow and laid them out so Dad could sleep in the middle

Night

After night
I have to admit that the moment he settles down after the hype of sneaking into our bed, unwrapping the bed and getting comfortable with his dolphin, he generally falls asleep pretty quickly.  Once he is asleep Ili moves him into his own bed for the rest of the night.  Very rarely will he then return for another family cuddle.

30 weeks

We have reach 30 weeks, officially 2 weeks into the third trimester!  8-10 weeks left and feeling good about this one.

So this is me...

And this is Jellybean....

Side profile

Front profile.. check the chubby cheeks
Weight:          Me = alot                                JB = 3.11 pounds (1.4kg)
Movement:     Me: sluggish and woddleish      JB: alot!   Lots of big kicks
Dr opinion      Me: its complicated                  JB: very happy, every things is growing according
to plan, organs, head, heart rate all look perfect!

Ok so to my complicated story....its actually not so bad.  I went for my usual 2 week visit this week.  It was a great visit.  Firstly I was the only person in the waiting room so my waiting time was ummm 5 minutes! Yes my wait time to see a gynae was 5 minutes *GASP* I was called in personally by the Doc, granted he was looking for another patient and found me so I jumped the q.  This did not last for long cause the assistant tracked me down and pulled me out for my regular weight, BP and pee test.  The Doc did apologise for trying to be efficient ;-) So after all the excitement we came to discover I have gained quite a bit of weight over the last 2 weeks (issue 1), my BP is excellent (not an issue), I have a trace of protein in my pee (issue 2), 2 migraines in 1.5 week (issue 3).

Ok so the protein, headaches and gain weight are symptoms of preeclampsia.  Preeclampsia is hypertension during pregnancy which can cause liver problems.  There are a ton of risks that are enveloped in this one diagnosis but as I only had a trace I refuse to go into alot of detail.  I have googled it and researched it, its still me, but just aint going to blog it.  It is also important to note that the Dr said with the amount that was found if it were another person he would just note it, but as I am who I am, he wants to keep a closer eye on me.  So I am now a weekly visitor to my dear Gynae.

Now on my weekly calender I have the gynae and non stress tests (NST).   Things are getting exciting!

Otherwise, besides all that I do feel really good.  The daily movements keep me calm and sane.  My increase in size is keeping me humble, trying to appreciate the size I am instead of cursing every time something does not fit anymore.    And what would I do without my awesome husband who does all the shopping, packs Jaime and my lunches every morning, cooks nutritious dinners when he is home and during his off times he does the laundry (this time round took him 4 days!).  My gorgeous baby boy who just constantly telling me he loves me and "helps" me clean and cook and just listens "cause my belly is big and you're tired mom" he says.  I could honestly not ask for more.

One other exciting thing this week:  at my NST this week I heard and felt JB's hiccups for the first time! This was a funny experience for me and the nurse monitoring me...she giggled at all the "movement" marks on the heart rate print out.

The start of October

Pretty much every month till the end of the year has a month end celebratory event.  October is Halloween (and our wedding anniversary), November is Thanksgiving and December is Christmas (and of course the birth of our new addition!).

So lets start the October celebrations, how?  by making our first Jack-O-Lantern!

Step 1: Make a circular incision around the base of the stem.  Remove the lid gently.

Step 2:  Remove the guts either with a spoon, scoop or with your hands..yes get them sticky and dirty!

Step 3:  Draw your design.  As this is our first a simple design it is.

Ili designing the pumpkin, and Jaime drafting pumpkin number 2's design
 Step 4:  Commence sculpting

While surgeon number 1 is busy, surgeon number 2 starts cleaning pumpkin number 2:

Step 3: draw your design

Be very serious..you do not want to mess up your pumpkin!
Step 5: stand back and appreciate

Now the guts and seeds..guts go for compost and the seeds we roast

and dry out for next year's picking!

The funny things he says...

"Guys, you know what? I love you guys"

"Guys, I have a secret, I love you"

While sitting in the Dr's office they start to drill outside so Jaime says "Guys its giving me a headache"

J: Mom, I want money so that I can buy an expensive toy
M: where you getting the money from?
J: that lady (?) will give it
M: and where you going to buy this expensive toy
J: MOM at Toys r us, YOU KNOW!

"In Target the other day: Mom I wanna be a sperm whale for halloween"
(note not a beluga, or humpback or killer whale but a sperm whale!)

"When I'm big, like 10 years old, I want a car where I can stretch my arms and no top"

"I'm in love with Ms Erica"

Work-a-versary

Yip its my work-a-versary...1 year at my job!  And since I have never really blogged about my work, and been requested to do so, I though it would be appropriate as part of my little milestone.  So here goes..

Kiddy lock containers

Anyone know what this is?

Yes its kiddy lock container to keep the grubby hands of a toddler away from your medications.
The container features a unique patented locking system which stops little fingers from accessing whatever is inside.   This is a simple and effective way to prevent your child from accidentally poisoning themselves. It is a small amount to pay for peace of mind and for your child’s safety.... so we thought!

After about half hour after putting Jaime to bed I decided to take a walk upstairs and check up on him.   I find Mr Jaime clicking a pen, I recognise the pen as the one inside my kiddy lock medicine container, but it cant be, so I ask the question.  The response: " I got it when I ate those sweeties" GULP! sweeties???  My heart stopped, I run to my room and check the container, its locked...?  Jaime then walks in and says "yeah mom in there" he then shows me how he uses both hands to squeese teh lock and turn till the lid pops open...GULP!!! again my heart stops.

Jaime which sweeties?  He shows me the 2 empty containers of Hylands flu and cold meds.  "GULP"

Ok breath.... after interrogating my monster I discovered that he may have eaten 1 tablet or 15 tablets.  So I call the poison control.  They told me between 1-20 is not a problem as they are natural and we would only really have a problem if he had eaten 40-50 tablets.

HUGE sigh of relief!

Needless to say, even though I was hugely relieved, I have moved the supposed kiddy safe medicine container to a very high spot in the cupboard.  This is one situation I do not want to relive.

It also makes me think about how much baby proofing i still need to think about and do!
