Ili's Wisdoms
8 July 2011 - Ili lost his wisdom ...mmm sorry Ili Lost his Wisdoms (*3)
Around 1 pm Ili, Jaime and myself make our way to Linmed Hospital in Benoni. Ili was admitted pretty soon after arrival with the instruction to wait till you get called. About 2 hours into our wait, the nurses arrive check his blood pressure; ask the random questions etc so we ask what time will Ili go in? The nurse starts doing a mental tally on who is in front of Ili...she comes to a figure of 8 people and then infoms us there is a half hour between people. Ok ok so we don’t freak out that’s just 4 hours more to wait 4 HOURS!!!! Poor ili had a bowl of rice crispies at 7am, his worms were turning carnivore and eating each other.
We then decide it’s just not right to make Jaime wait in hospital with us plus Ili needs his PSP. So I go home, drop Jaime off with my mom pick up some books the PSP and some food (for me) all while receiving messages from ili in 5 minute increments.
The next 3 hours went like this - TV - PSP - read - coffee - TV - PSP .... I'm sure you get the just of it.
They collected Ili at 7pm for theater, Ili was a bit nervous still smiling and laughing but very nervous.
7:30 - out of theater looking a little confused a happy that it was over.
 Straight after surgery - note the background ..yes its the Paed Ward...ask no questions! He was able to drink some juice (that dodgy mix with water stuff) and eat a yoghurt. A Yoghurt??? after almost 12 hours of not eating a yoghurt???? 2 hours later the Doctor arrived gave us a report back and discharged ili. We were home by 10:30pm - long day! |

| 3 weeks later - back to normal, not as wise but normal! Ili says his gums are still a bit numb but def better than before |
Glad thats all over!
Practice Practice Practice
As part of Jaime's OT we have to practice, practice practice! He needs to work on strengthening his shoulder muscles, so most of his exercises involve drawing on white boards and the black board. I prefer the black board as it provides more resistance, Jaime on the other hand prefers the white board.

Update visit with Dr Kelly
Its been 2 years since Jaime's Cranio op, and on a yearly basis we need to visit Dr Kelly for a checkup. Now I know everything is good, you can see it, Jaime responds well, is growing, is extremely intelligent (Mom's genes), but geez was I still anxious for this appointmnet. Funny how you always think of the negative when in state of anticipation.
So the feedback: Jaimes head is looking really good. Dr Kelly was very happy with his shape, his bumps, the spaces still open (these allow for extra growth in future), his eye orbit size and shape. So overall a good visit. He said I would need to find a doctor where ever we go as Jaime needs annual checkups till he reaches the age of 10.
My mom went along for the ride ...and so did the camera.

The De Gouveia Family reunion
July 26 2011 the De Gouveia Familia's family reunion - its not just a family reunion its half the Portuguese Community family reunion you know what Im saying??? Anyway it was good for Jaime to meet some new cousins and for us to start saying bye.
