Strawberry shortcake & old uncle Joe

My cuzzie turns one and my uncle turns 40!!

Saturday afternoon party, out in the garden, 100 balloons all different colours, with the familia, celebrating Gabriella's first birthday. Even though I was very grumpy, was running a high temp we couldn't miss a garden party!

Proud Avo's with their little granddaughter. My mom in law was so proud of the fact that little G was wearing her birthday gift ie the strawberry shortcake dress.

Avo Jardim was privileged enough to make G's birthday cake - all pink, with pink flowers and a little miss strawberry shortcake.

A Day at the bird park

This weekend we South Africans were luck enough to have another long weekend. Tuesday was youth day, a day of remembrance of the youth march that was held in Soweto. The march was meant to be peaceful but due to miscommunications and trigger happy individuals the march landed up being a riot, with lots of lives affected.

We were lucky enough to organise an afternoon with Cheila and David, and their bump. The bump I say is a girl but the father of the bump is absolutely sure its a boy...we'll see! The afternoon was spent at the bird park at Monte Casino. Jaime loves animals of all kinds, so spending a day with birds was just up his alley ;-)

Below, Jaime and Daddy talking to the African Grey..take note how Jaime is leaning over all eager to touch..lol!

In the walk-in aviary...we were able to get up close to the birds. Check out Cheila's bump...too cute!

Interesting to see that most of the parrots and macaws actually roam free, while walking through a section of the park one of the parrots decided to attack Davids shoe...

The park, I have to say, is extremely well kept and have a huge range of international species of birds. Below, Ive attached a pic of these funny looking cranes (cant remember where they from). Not sure if you can see clearly but these bird have two odd things happening. a - this yellow nose cap effort thing over its beak (use the crane in the background as a reference on the size of his beak) and b- check how the bird is sitting, its on its "knees" with its feet facing forward...weird!

The favourite spectacle of the day ...the sloth! First time in my life seeing a real one! Jaime wasn't to impressed though as no matter how much he spat, and "ba ba"'d it, the sloth did not move. He did however open his eyes and blink twice, then went straight to sleep completely ignoring the excited little boy in my arms! Maybe next time ;-)

Next adventure is the Zoo...maybe next time Daddy has a weekend off.

My buzzy bee

This weeks happenings

Hey y'al, this week has been one major week!

Friday we (Jaime and I) spent an awesome morning at moms & babes then off to Aunty Carmi's house to help set up for Chanel's 1st birthday party. The theme ... Disney's Heffalump ;-)

Saturday the big day, Jaime was in his element spending the day with his two girlfriends! On the left Gisella (6 weeks older) and on the right, the birthday girl Chanel (6 weeks younger). This is them at the party table. Needless to say the flings went down well with the kids. Chanel, they never stood a chance, Gisella, well Jaime's always seemed tastier than hers, and old Jaime just loved watching his GF's eat.

Jaime you dropped you chip my BF, I'll get it!.... lol ok ok Jaime is alot shorter than hiss GF's so we had to help the poor guy out, ... he could't see over the table..what were we to do ha ha ha

Chanel and her granny Enid singing Happy Birthday! Note the heffalump cake on the right. This Im proud to say I assisted in the prepping of... Aunty Trees is the creative one though!

Saturday night, we went to Ili's cousins confirmation. In the background Portugal were playing their heart out! Apparently this game meant in/out of the next world cup so I suppose it was important.

Saturday night and Sunday Jaime and I were man or more like child and woman down, with gastro. fun fun fun! Took Jaime to the dr on Monday, gave him some probiotics and sent him home to sleep. Ili then got it Tuesday, man down. Today Thursday Tia Fatima has it. Now you asking... ok ...who's looking after Mr Jaime??? ha ha it his daddy! First time ever that dada is him on his own the whole day And I did't have time prepare his meals, clothes anything...well I'll keep you posted.

Please pray for my Avó

Please keep my Avó in your prayers and thoughts. Avó fell on Sunday morning breaking her hip and bruising her body quite badly. She is currently in hospital waiting for a hip replacement. The doctors have said that they cannot operate yet as her blood pressure is still to high. They are looking into performing the hip replacement via a spinal block ...but we will find out later.
My God protect you and help keep your pain at bay!

Beached Pilot Whales on Kommetjie Beach...

Beached Pilot Whales on Kommetjie Beach... it was a sad, sad day indeed.
55 Pilot whales beached themselves on Kommetjie Beach 30 May 2009. There were no survivors. Everyone tried for hours and hours in the icey waters to rescue them, but they just kept rebeaching themselves.

A tragedy.

Of all my tales
My saddest one is of the whales
My tears are falling as I write
It really was the saddest sight
55 whales beached right here
I feel bereft, I feel despair
That these beautiful creatures of the deep
Would take their lives just makes me weep
What? I weep, what went wrong?
This is my cry, my whalesong!
